julian's 1st birthday...two months ago...

Well I'm almost embarrassed to be posting Julian's 1st birthday party pictures...being as the party was 2 months ago!!! My only real excuse is...he's 1 and walking!!! Enough said.

The party was a great success thanks to all the help from friends and family. We couldn't have had a better day...75 and sunny! However, had it not been so sunny I might have gotten better pictures...or if I knew another setting on my camera besides EASY.

By far my favorite part was the dessert table...this was truly my pride and joy. Thank you to Terri's Treasures for the amazing baseball cake balls, cake ball pops, and the cupcake toppers!!! They were definitely a hit! At one point I caught one of my little cousins sneaking out of the house with 4 tucked down at his side...apparently the chocolate were his favorite! Also, thank you to Dandy Delights for the Yankees shortbread cookies. They looked and tasted great! While both the lemon and chocolate were oh so yummy...I found myself hiding a couple lemon ones for later!

All in all, a great day and great memories for a long time to come! My only question...what to do next year...hmmm...

so this is what kitchen's are made for...

I have to admit, I am not exactly a pro in the kitchen. Actually, I don't even think I'd consider myself a novice. In fact, in the past I have avoided it at all costs! But not this week! I have found myself in there experimenting all week! With the upcoming party and my desire for an awesome dessert table, I figured I better try my hand at some tasty treats.

First up...cake balls...

From the many tutorials I viewed on different blogs and YouTube, as well as the basics as told to me by my co-worker (Thanks Terri)...I thought to myself, I can do this! Well I did! And they were even edible (which those who know me know that this is a big accomplishment)! But they are very time consuming and the dipping part is tricky and takes a bit of practice...here is a look at the ones I made...
They turned out pretty good...but definitely as good as Terri's Treasures...hers are simply to die for! My absolute favorite are the vanilla cake with vanilla frosting covered in white chocolate!!! And this is the reason I am having her make the cake balls for Julian's party. She even brought me in a sample, isn't it great?!?!?!
I may be able to drizzle but the baseball design is far beyond my capabilities!!!

Next up...candy...

I decided to make chocolate baseball suckers after seeing the mold at my new favorite store Hobby Lobby (I'm almost on a first name basis with the night cashier, since I think of something else I need from there daily). Though not quite as perfect as the package (that red is harder than it looks), I'm really happy with how they turned out!

every party needs...

A great invitation!!! So began my search for the perfect invitation... I started by searching Yahoo for a New York Yankees invite, a few came up but nothing I really loved. Then I thought I'd give eBay a try...and then I found it...a great invite to a great party!!!

my first blog

Decide on a title for my blog...check!

Decide on a design for my blog...check!!

Now here is the tough one...publish the first post for my blog!!!

When I first started writing this post I thought to myself, "Do I even have anything to write about???"...but then I had a realization...I have too much stuff I want to write about and share!!!

So right now I am in total birthday mode!!! I have an 11th month old son named Julian who is getting ready to celebrate his first birthday on September 2nd. His party is the following Sunday. And this is where my new obbsession begins... When I first started planning my ideas were a New York Yankees theme, ballpark food, and about 35 guests. I started my planning by purchasing Yankees plates and cups online for 35 guests...well I have since visited the site 2 other times to place orders for my growing guest list. Then it happened...I looked at the party pictures from
craftyworkinmommy twins first birthday party!!! I was officially inspired!!! This is when I decided Julian's party needed to be great! Let the planning begin!!!
